Boosting Interoperability Requires EHR Integration Expertise

Because Moxe’s solutions are embedded directly with the EHR, it’s important that we not only understand the intricacies of each EHR but that we intimately know how to protect and secure patient data. Ensuring that access is limited to the minimum data necessary and your specific release restrictions is our top priority. We are all patients, and we treat clinical data as if it were our own.

One of the things that sets Moxe apart is our EHR expertise. Many of us have experience working directly with—and for—the leading EHR vendors such as Epic, Cerner, Meditech, athenahealth, and AllScripts. You could say EHRs are in our DNA, from integration to clinical data and workflows. In fact, as Moxe’s EHR Connector Product Manager, I count myself among Moxe’s growing army of EHR veterans, having led revenue cycle EHR implementations for several years.

Our Approach to Integration

A few key elements that differentiate Moxe’s approach to automating Release of Information (ROI) through the EHR include:

Respecting Release Restrictions

As we bring new health systems on board, we work closely with them to understand their requirements so that requestors will only have access to the data needed. This means that there is a substantial amount of flexibility for health systems to define exactly what information should be included. For example, Moxe is able to filter out specific note types that are sensitive in nature and should not be shared outside your organization.

Factoring in the Volume and Requirements of Audits

As the demand for clinical data increases, especially during HEDIS® and Medicare Risk Adjustment season, we know how important and challenging fulfilling requests for timely, accurate, and complete clinical data is. That is factored into our solutions as is the ability to easily view what was released to whom and when so that you have control over the ROI process at all times.

Simplifying IT Setup

Moxe implementations typically take less than 20 hours to complete, meaning the time your team spends on setup will be saved many times over when compared to the time it would take to manually pull charts.

Real-World Example of EHR Integration

To give you a sense of how we work with EHRs and how that benefits our customers, let’s look at how we work with Cerner. The Moxe Digital ROITM app is in the Cerner code app gallery. This means that health systems using Cerner Millennium or CommunityWorks can easily connect to the Moxe Digital ROI app through client-based authentication on the Cerner code platform. The app uses back-end automation with a system user that is authenticated through the code platform. As Moxe Digital ROI fully automates release of information requests, no end users use the application. This reduces maintenance and ensures security.

Continuous Improvement

Moxe’s commitment to continuous improvement is carried out every day as we work with our customers to understand their needs and how they are (or are not) being met using our solution. Moxe regularly collaborates with our customers to design and prioritize enhancements to our solutions to ensure we deliver the most complete and accurate clinical data possible. During implementation, we will work closely with your team to understand your needs and ensure Moxe’s solution fits seamlessly with your EHR. On an ongoing basis, we will meet with you to solicit feedback and communicate your needs to our product team for future enhancements.

We continuously monitor API response times and implement improvements through caching, optimizing input parameters, and upgrading to the latest FHIR versions. By reducing API response times, we increase turnaround times to fulfill ROI requests.
